Kirsten Von Aulock

M.S.W, LSW

Kirsten has a Master’s degree in social work with a specialty in mental health from Loyola University Chicago. She is a licensed social worker that has worked in academic, clinical, and nonprofit settings. Her most recent work experience was in the school setting in which she was responsible for both academic and social/emotional development with young children and adolescents.

Kirsten is a passionate, reliable, and focused clinician. She has a great deal of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. More specifically, Kirsten has an interest in working with people with anxiety, depression, mood disorders adjustment issues, and perinatal mental health issues. While working at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, she enjoyed providing individual therapy, group therapy, and case management. Kirsten is a proponent of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoanalysis, expressive therapy, and strengths-based practice. She strongly believes in early detection; mental health awareness and reform are key. Kirsten is an advocate for mental health awareness and reform through organizations like NAMI and MHA.

Kirsten believes that life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you react. She is confident that with introspection and dedication people can heal from the inside out. Her goal is always to develop a trusting therapist/client relationship that emphasizes openness, empathy, and understanding.

Outside of her work, Kirsten volunteers with Rainbow Hospice as a Thresholds singer. Through Thresholds, she brings the gift of song to those in their last stages of life. On a side note, Kirsten enjoys taekwondo, cooking, traveling, and spending time with my husband and four kids.
